's Friday and I should be writing my " Friday Fill in the Blank " ( on another site ), and should also wrap-up a story about " Bridges and Staircases " ... the suspense is slingshot worthy.

Instead, I write unto you. I am your humble servant. I'm always looking; hoping I'll find the one intellectual that can tie-in.

Building on a previous post of my own, I think about the reading skills ( and the reading habits ) of a post-virus society.
No. that. A post-internet society.

Here's some good news: someone is out reading.
I thank the tiny handful of my readers. Encourage others. And the commenters will receive the greatest gifts of words.

Where did the words go?
Must one be over the age of 40 t o understand the written word?

I sent this on a personal . But I think should be PROCLAIMED.

Is possible?

I keep thinking I must post a sexy picture or story.

Don't people just think about, reflect and even comment on things other than sex?

Here's something I found sexy. Because, at a distance, 's a fabulous abstraction of body parts.

I went back and read Neal Stephenson. My third or fourth time. The man's a bloody genius.
Combine pipe organs with a deck of cards?

Dunno why he's not a world leader... these things take time I guess.
He should meet up with Ray Kurzweil and we'll have flying automobiles in less than a year.

ahhhhhh That's probably not a very good idea. Some people can't even drive on the ground : )

Books with over one-thousand pages can sometimes be intimidating.
I get that.
I read more than I write.
I draw ( or paint ) about half as much.

But I'm not really certain that anyone cares one way or the other.

We want happiness.

w h o doesn't?

I have a friend w h o lives almost exactly 300 miles away from me. His n a m e is Dean. We were neighbors long ago.

He and I have lived almost parallel lives -- music business. Big tours. Loud sound. Always on the road.
We laughed after we finally met because we realized that the reason we didn't know one another was because we were both doing exactly the s a m e thing.

Pushing buttons and turning knobs so that tens of thousands could hear their favorite songs.

Dean taught me a really neat trick when tuning a piano.
I showed him a better way for soldering cables.
We were good like that. Once you can trust... you share everything.
We both saxophone. We meander on keyboards. Sing like birds.

Anyway, we lost a really good friend recently. Heart attack. Happens so fast.

Can't attend a funeral... fuckin' COVID.

So instead, he sends me a photo. He went deep into the woods. Showing me something I didn't know for myself. Trees.

Trees can dance. They do when we are not looking.
So much reality that some folks " magic " HAPPENS because we are not looking.

Look at these trees dancing:

I was trying t o remember the last time I shaved my face.

Seems like a weird thing t o think about.

I haven't had a haircut since COVID, either. My photos are out of date.
The way this site treats -- I don't really care : )

Anyway... kinda got t o recalling some truly fabulous moments in my past few decades of life.
I don't like t o brag, and some topics are still under non-disclosure agreements. But I'll share a brief moment or five.

Has anyone viewed a TV series from the 80s called " Moonlighting "?

Cybill Sheppard, at that time, was so lovely. She was Betsy in Taxi Driver

I forgot that. Praise Wikipedia. Keeps making me sound smart.

But the reason I brought it up is that Bruce Willis plays David Addison, an absolutely glorious role. His first one, I thin k

The really goofy part is that I went t o high school with David Addison. Who went on t o become a private detective, and later... an investigator for the American government.
Unfortunately, he's dead now. But that's neither here-nor-there.

I grew-up watching this show ( among others -- I don't own, nor watch television these days ).
Five seasons.
I still think it holds. Pretty good writing and characterization.

But what do I know?

I DO know, Bruce ( Walter, actually ) told me that " Moonlighting " was the greatest fun he has ever had in front of a camera.
When I watch it now ( just background noise ), it makes me smile.

It's not always the worst thing in the world.

Some folks can only see how bad everything is.

I'm not an optimist. I'm a realist.
I don't expect be pleased by each and every aspect of my life.
Or someone else's life.

Fill in the Blank

Within a completely different blog-space, where we wear coats and ties, I write a weekly offering called " Fill in the Blank".
With a tip-o'-the-hat toward Mark Goodson and Bill Todman ( a pair of men that have occupied the attention of countless housewives and third-shift teamsters, etc. from the early-sixties through the mid-seventies ) -- an homage to a daytime television show known as " Match Game ".

When I watched it, as a prepubescent, Gene Rayburn was the host and, dare I say, a model for 20th Century humor. I didn't get all the jokes, nor did I understand the inbetweens he and Betty White shared... but I was enthralled by the silly answers the questions posed.

So, very recently, I discovered that Hot Socials is a form of " match game ".

I always knew that, but now more than ever... the " spark " offerings of making a match are the least flammable I have experienced here in decades. There used be a community here. Where did it go?

So anyway... I'll throw out a fill-in-the-blank y' and again receive a form of litmus test regarding many-if-not-most of the members in THIS forum.

I LOG ONTO Hot Socials BECAUSE _________________________________.

First... my posts are still being manipulated by the powers that be.

If an occasional short word and sometimes worse - a single letter - is missing from my posts; rest assured such errors were not in the original writing. I edit documents for a living. 'nuff said.

Some of my posts are still being denied outright. Censorship should be the eighth Cardinal Sin.

Speaking of sin... my latest novel is all about the idea of sin. It is quite possibly my most intense undertaking as a writer.
I tend to question everything before drawing my own conclusion. I was raised Roman Catholic. I call myself a " recovering Catholic " - not unlike a recovering alcoholic or addict. I don't practice the rituals of Catholicism any longer... but they will always remain a part of who I am.

Anyway, I occasionally solicit the thoughts of a friend of mine whom I met here on Hot Socials almost seven years ago. She has a brilliant mind and a very stable existence despite all of the obstacles that continue to be thrown in her path.

She suggested I ask the hedonistic audience of this forum if they might have insight that I might be able to glean in order to flesh-out the characters and concepts a bit better.

Up for it?

Hope so. The letter went much like this:

Greetings fellow humanoid,

I'm off work this glorious Tuesday, and with laptop firmly upon my lap found the time and solace to write to you my good friend. I hope this finds you well.

I worry about you often because I have yet to hear that you are feeling/doing better. With hardly a detail as to what is going foul... you know me... I always dwell on the worst-case scenario. My concerns are rarely as bad as the realities of situations I find myself in - but knowing what the worst can be usually makes the reality easy to bear.

Some call this pessimism. I disagree.
The solution to the half-full/half-empty conundrum is quite simple... the glass is obviously too large for the liquid it is containing : )

So, I need to ask more of your level-headed brain in the hopes of moving my latest piece regarding sin a bit more forward.

I find many have a difficult time separating God from religion. God, or whomsoever one may choose to call such an entity ( entities? ) is certainly the grand architect of the physical world and the universe that surrounds it. He/She/It exists beyond time and space -- according to some accounts, has counted every hair on your head and knows the movements of every blade of grass in the wind.

Religion is a manmade entity ( entities ) which has been handed down from generation to generation, modified as necessary, and is no different than what we call government or even corporations. Basically a set of values - dare I say " morals " - that any and all that claim to be a part of such a community abide by ( or so they claim in public, despite how they behave privately ).

So kindly, lovely lady, put aside your religion( s ) and help me get a better grasp on a concept that has been building a wall around what I am trying to write about.

Is there an afterlife?

Does the spirit actually " go " somewhere after the corporeal body ceases to function?

Heaven. Valhalla. Hell. Hades. Purgatory. Limbo. Etc.

Knowing what I think I know about the Newton-inspired conservation of energy law ( not a theory -- a physical law ) penned by the French, female philosopher and mathematician Émilie du Châtelet: energy ( much like mass ) can neither be created nor destroyed. Therefore, when one dies, the " energy " of the living being ( call it a soul or spirit or what-have-you ) must " go " somewhere -- like when visible light, heat and smoke are released from a burning log, leaving only ashes behind.

IF there is a Heaven/Hell dichotomy, and the soul truly " travels " to one or the other -- is this not what keeps righteous people ( religious or not ) from committing sin? Staying free from sin " just in case " religion is correct?

Of course " Karma " - what goes around comes around - plays into this, if one believes in reincarnation, which does not violate the law of energy's conservation.

The curveball that keeps being thrown at me - looking like it is about to hit me upon its approach and then sloping down-and-out while pushing me away from home-plate is the concept of Yin/Yang. Despite what my mother may think, and certain texts may convey, I firmly believe that there is exactly the same amount of good as there is evil on this particular planet.

It certainly coincides with Karma, and conjecturally dovetails with the law of conservation of energy and mass.

So I ask myself, and consequently now - you - is the motivation of a happy afterlife the reason certain people strive to remain sin-free? And if there really is as much good as there is evil among us, what motivates the sinner?

Those that read... thank you for your time. Those that comment, thank you for your mind.

Cheers!

So I was looking back at some of my own blog posts. The past five or so have been " denied " by the admin. I guess I don't get that. But these days, everyone seems a bit over-protective and cautious. So it goes...

Normally, I don't read my own posts -- too busy reading all of yours.

A few years ago, the blogs were the place to be.
Nowadays it doesn't seem as alive as it once was. EVERYONE's posts are getting " denied ". Dunno.

And what's the deal with attaching photos within messages and IMs? Past few days, I have been unable. It takes hours for approval of a new pic I'm adding in my profile.

I guess I shouldn't complain. But as a paying, verified member herein... where is the quality of service?
And is that approves or disapproves certain content? Can they really read every blogpost? View every photo submitted?

Lastly, why all the constant format changes?

Anyway, I'm hoping this post gets through.

Hoping my readers are doing well.

Cheers!

I have a tendency check every single number.

Not so much in my checking account... but the big numbers that rock the world.

They kinda mess me up.
Their sense.
Or lack of.

No matter.

I was thinking about getting back on Hot Socials.
What that might mean.

What it might cause...

It's not the same as it was.

But few things are.

Hi.

I wasn't gonna write this.

First... I watched a woman insert an entire neck of a wine bottle into her house of holy. That was
that was
that was

Unbelievable. And I'm the Doubting Thomas.

But no, I was thinking more about the flag poles I must endure while driving on my street.
As if the red-white-and-blue is somehow gonna save us.

And as a complete left turn... can you imagine how freaking hard it must be for the brand "Corona"? I have no words for that.

If everyone is so freaked out from people dying ( they do that, ya know ) how freaky will they ever get with those of us that are still alive?

Personally, I think the flags should be at half-mast... but my cock is not.

Hello, again.

I had a weird revelation by reading ( which I do for almost half the day ) a piece on "Scientific American".

It's all very science-y and closes-in on the meaning of life, the universe and everything. It wasn't religious.

It made me desire a prayer. So I did, not pointed at a God, but the universe... the collective consciousness that can be elusive. “Cosmopsychism” -- it's not in the dictionary but apparently has been around for a few years.

I think sometimes that people of today are distracted in a harming manner.

Every bloody thing is connected. It always has been; and it always will be.

This is not a new idea... but it is fading in a very peculiar fashion. Eroding, actually. A severe sign of entropy.

I was telling a friend how when seeing a person for real... it seems people have gotten nicer because of the plague. But on the web... criminy.

I can't count the number of times, for example, that I was asked if I am real? I understand there are fakes on this site and elsewhere... but how many times must I insist that I am a physical being living in a physical world?

Einstein, Uncle Albert, came up with a nifty idea. Actually, quite a few.

But one in particular has been nailing me against the wall. The way electrons behave.
Every time one flips, another one ( somewhere ) must also change its direction. Or spin. Or however one might look at it.

Anyway, I thought about writing this, potentially, last blog post on this sordid site.

I tried looking into the " broadcasts " that people perform. It made me wonder... how come nobody includes their face?

How many tits, asses, and cocks can I look at?

I guess I just don't understand why someone would open up their cam just showing themselves staring at their screens.

I did view ONE fabulous broadcast. But we still didn't see her face. I came twice.

But I really just desired a face shot. Whatever.

Where does one get the devices for remote buzzing?

White Deluxe Hot Buns

Greetings.

Every time I open my ice box, I'm greeted with "White Deluxe Hot Buns". They're just lying there, frozen solid. Near the chocolate ice cream and the bottle of vodka.

Sometimes I can't remember why I even opened the ice box.

Is it for the ice cream? The vodka? Trying a way for a combination of the two. All I see is a mess there.

There's a strange relationship between hot dogs and their buns. If one was making an even amount of both... it would cost a fortune. Not a fortune, but, a whole lot more than a single man should spend on meat and bread.

As a writer, I can't put it into words. As a mathematician, there is no real sense for it.

But anyway, I read almost all of the blogs and wish more people would comment. Not necessarily here on mine, just in general.

It seems everyone has gone silent. Maybe afraid of something. Or shy.

I don't get that.

But whatever...

Peace for you, who reads.
